Other LGBT dating sites

There are 2 other threads about specific dating sites, one of which I created. I wish I had thought of the idea to put them all in one thread a long time ago, and in the interest of de-cluttering, am doing it now. I've been looking around at different sites, and found lesbotronic.com. It has a forum, is completely free, and looks great! The only problem is, it has a CAPTCHA with no audio version. It has a link where you can e-mail them for assistance. I did, but don't know if it went through as I haven't had the best of luck with outlook express.
So what sites have you been on? How do you like them and have you had any success with them? What are their good and bad points?

Are you asking about all dating sites in general?

Post 3 by Kathy Fraggle (Zone BBS is my Life) on Friday, 23-Jul-2010 15:42:24

No, I've been on a few general dating sites. I'm specifically asking about other LGBT sites. That's sites dedicated to matching lesbians, gays, bi and transsexuals.

I've been on outinamerica, gay.com, gaydar, adam4adam, and the 'men seeking men' part of craigslist. Adam4adam caters only to gay men, so, I think it's out, for your purposes. LOL. Gay.com, Outinamerica, and gaydar are 'co-ed'. I think gay.com has a captcha, but, it did not, when I signed up. I found the chat feature on outinamerica almost accessible, but, the one on gay.com can be used with a browser and screen reader. On all these sites (Not that I've posted to craigslist), I find I'm largely ignored. Is this the 'blind' thing, or the 'old' thing? Not sure.

Thanks, I'll have to check those out! Lol, the sites I've been to and mentioned are just for women, and in the spirit of fairness, I hoped there was something like that for men. As far as being ignored, that's pretty much my experience on G2G. I did mention in my profile that I was blind, so that could be. Also, I think not having a picture attached isn't helping me any. The only one I've got on my computer is one from a few years ago that's a bit less flattering than I would've hoped. It might have to do though...

Well, I signed up for Lezzbook a week and a half ago, and my account is still pending approval. Has anyone else run into that problem? Outinamerica does, not, like, my, computer, at all. lol. I signed up on G2G and went through a lot of the site before realizing that you have to be a paid member to message with others. And when I looked at Gaydar just now, I saw something about a free trial. Actually, Gay.com has a paid membership program too. Does anyone know what the limitations of the basic memberships are on either of these sites? If I can't do something as simple as message with members, I don't think I'll sign up.

I'm looking for additional sites, and if I find any, I'll post them here.

I can't remember how long it's been since I signed up on Lezzbook, at least a week, and I haven't been aproved either. I tried gaydar and it proclaimed itself to be a porn site, I'm still a tad squickish about that sort of thing, so I didn't even get far enough to see if it had personals. Maybe I'll give it another try. There was one I liked, it may have been gay.com, but it had a CAPTCHA with no audio option.
Another site I was told about is the queer village. Like lezzbook, it's not a dating site, but any site can become a personals site if you use it as such. I signed up, but the only problem is accepting friend requests is rather dificult. Well, impossible with JAWS at the moment.

Have you tried switching browsers? I'd recommend Firefox. You can use Webvisum with it, which will solve your captcha problem.

Oh, I don't know about that. I've only ever used explorer...

use to be on lesbotronic. try that.

Post 11 by Kathy Fraggle (Zone BBS is my Life) on Thursday, 02-Sep-2010 0:33:43

Thanks, but as I said earlier in this thread, I tried, and there is a CAPTCHA. Tried e-mailing them, but they didn't give the actual e-mail address so it didn't work for me.

Post 12 by Click_Clash (No Average Angel) on Thursday, 02-Sep-2010 9:13:09

Oh, was it one of those pop-up e-mail form... thingies? lol. The e-mail address should be displayed in the form somewhere. Try tabbing through and using your arrow keys to read it.

Post 13 by Kathy Fraggle (Zone BBS is my Life) on Thursday, 02-Sep-2010 10:14:27

Well what happened was they did have an e-mail link, but it just said "e-mail," instead of an actual address. When that happens, outlook express pops up, and I've for some reason never been able to send a successful e-mail through there.

I was finally accepted on lezzbook last night, so if anyone else here is a fully validated member, I'd love to friend you there!

Post 15 by Click_Clash (No Average Angel) on Saturday, 04-Sep-2010 10:13:14

Haha, I got accepted last night too. How are you listed on the site?

I also found a directory of all sorts of dating sites, including many that are lgbt. It's a lot to sift through, and I haven't checked any of them out yet, but it can be found at www.lesbotronic.com. Click on "Other Sites.", and then click on "Lesbian Dating Services."

Okay, so I got one fact wrong. lol. The link is on G2G, not Lesbotronic. Sorry.

I'm on there under Kathleen Burke.

Can anyone vouch for connection.org? I found it via a link on facebook, so a little weary of it, but it looks promising. Opinions?

Post 19 by Click_Clash (No Average Angel) on Sunday, 10-Oct-2010 13:24:46

I looked at it but declined to sign up. I can't remember why, probably because I've been to so many and they've all run together in my head. lol

I just went and totally impulsively made a profile on gays.com. Heaven help me... Oh well, it can only improve my chances, right? And from the results I got on my first search it seems to be the definitive LGBT social networking site.

Post 21 by Click_Clash (No Average Angel) on Wednesday, 13-Oct-2010 8:26:18

gays.com? Is this a different site from gay.com?

Post 22 by Kathy Fraggle (Zone BBS is my Life) on Wednesday, 13-Oct-2010 10:39:29

It seems to be. What I like about it is it gives you either broad or extremely narrowed-down searches, right down to your own town. That is, there's a combo box of areas in New York, and it lists just about every single town or area. By the way, how many sites do people here think is too many?

Post 23 by Click_Clash (No Average Angel) on Thursday, 14-Oct-2010 7:57:54

I signed up yesterday morning, and in the evening I received an e-mail from the team insisting I use my real name instead of my initials. If I can even get the site to work (the log-in link doesn't seem to want to work with IE, and the site froze with FF), I'll change it, but I refuse to be forced to use my real name if I don't want to. As for the number of sites, I would say use as many as you can keep up with. lol

If you have a facebook account, you can use that to log in. That's what I do.
